German conductor Alexander Liebreich has extended his contract as Music Director of the Orquesta de València and Artistic Advisor to the Palau de la Música, securing his continued leadership through the 2030–31 season.

The agreement provides continuity for the Spanish orchestra as it develops its artistic programming and long-term institutional strategy.

Liebreich has established an international conducting career encompassing symphonic repertoire, contemporary music and collaborations with leading European orchestras.

His previous appointments include leadership positions with the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Throughout his career, Liebreich has demonstrated a particular interest in combining established repertoire with lesser-known works and contemporary compositions.

His work in Valencia forms part of the orchestra's efforts to strengthen its artistic profile and expand its engagement with audiences.

The Orquesta de València is closely associated with the Palau de la Música, one of the city's principal concert venues.

The institution plays an important role in the cultural life of Valencia, presenting symphonic concerts and collaborating with guest conductors and soloists from Spain and abroad.

Long-term appointments can offer orchestras greater stability in artistic planning, particularly when developing repertoire cycles, educational initiatives and relationships with audiences.

Liebreich's contract extension indicates a commitment to maintaining continuity in the orchestra's artistic leadership.

The coming seasons will provide opportunities to assess how his musical priorities shape the ensemble's development and its position within Spain's orchestral landscape.
