Berlin State Opera Releases Additional Tickets for Anna Netrebko’s Performance

The Berlin State Opera has released a limited number of additional tickets for the sold-out performances of Verdi’s Il Trovatore, starring renowned Russian soprano Anna Netrebko. The five scheduled shows had previously sold out, but a small batch of seats has now been made available, sparking excitement among opera fans.

The newly released tickets are not returns but rather seats previously reserved for VIPs, now opened to the public. Approximately ten seats per performance, priced at up to €220, were made available and sold out within hours on the day of release. The opera house advises fans to monitor the ticketing platform for potential returns.

Netrebko will take the stage as Leonora starting May 15, joined by her former husband, Yusif Eyvazov, as Manrico, in this production directed by Philipp Stölzl. Known for her powerful voice and commanding stage presence, Netrebko has faced protests in recent years over alleged ties to Russian politics.

Elisabeth Sobotka, director of the Berlin State Opera, expressed confidence in the upcoming performances, noting no protests have been announced. She praised Netrebko’s artistry, citing the enthusiastic response to her earlier performances in Nabucco.
