A new bronze statue of famed tenor Luciano Pavarotti has been unveiled in Pesaro, Italy, where Pavarotti spent time in a villa. The statue will be placed in front of the town's Rossini Theater.
The city of Pesaro announced its intention to commission the statue in August 2022, after Pavarotti's terrazzo was unveiled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Pavarotti's family attended the recent unveiling of the statue.
“The statue is a gift to the city, but more importantly a tribute to Luciano Pavarotti,” said Pesaro's Mayor, Matteo Ricci, and Deputy Mayor, Daniele Vimini. “He was an extraordinary artist, never forgotten and an honorary citizen of Pesaro - we decided to pay tribute to him with a life-size, high-value bronze structure.”
“It will be located at the intersection of Piazzale Lazzarini and Via Curiel so that it can greet and welcome the citizens of Pesaro as well as tourists entering the square from Via Branca.”
