Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation honors ensembles

The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation has honored the ensembles "Collective lovemusic" from France and "Tacet(i)" from Thailand. Both ensembles will receive the Ensemble Sponsorship Award '25, endowed with £62,475 each, the foundation announced in Munich on Thursday. The prizewinners will also have the opportunity to perform live at the Beethovenfest Bonn in fall 2025.

The groups were chosen from among applicants from 15 countries. The prizes will be awarded on May 17, 2025 in the Herkulessaal in Munich.

Collective lovemusic and Tacet(i) Collective lovemusic was founded in 2018, the Strasbourg-based ensemble Collective lovemusic creates a variety of concert formats, such as readings with improvised music. The 14 musicians do without a conductor and incorporate other arts into their programs, including video, lighting design and stage design.

In its ten years of existence, Tacet(i) has developed into one of the leading ensembles for contemporary music in Southeast Asia. The ensemble collaborates with composers from Asia, Europe and the USA to explore new sounds and push the boundaries of sound through the use of technology.

This year marks the fifth time the Ensemble Prize has been awarded. With this award, which was established in 2020, the foundation aims to individually and sustainably support two outstanding young ensembles in their artistic and structural development. The winners are chosen by the board of trustees, which includes composers Isabel Mundry and Enno Poppe, artistic director Ilona Schmiel and violinist Carolin Widmann. Every year, the foundation awards the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize, one of the world's most prestigious awards for composers, performers and musicologists. It also supports contemporary music projects and up-and-coming artists with prizes and grants.
