La Scala: Ortombina's Dual Role and Budget Update

Fortunato Ortombina will serve as both superintendent and artistic director of La Scala starting March 1, despite earlier calls to separate the roles. He recently appeared before the board to discuss the theater's budget, with the City Council reducing its contribution from last year’s £4.5 million to £3.3million.

Ortombina appointed Paolo Gavazzeni as artistic direction coordinator, replacing André Comploi, who has accepted a new position. The theater expects a balanced budget for 2024, though less favorable than the previous year, partly due to decreased funding from the City Council.
