Olga Esina will leave Vienna State Ballet at the end of the current season, bringing a twenty-year association with the company to a close, according to an APA report published by Vienna.at.

Born and trained in St Petersburg, Esina danced with the Mariinsky Ballet before joining the ballet of the Vienna State Opera and Volksoper in 2006. She became a first soloist in 2010 and has performed major classical and contemporary roles in Vienna.

Ballet director Alessandra Ferri paid tribute to Esina's elegance and personal qualities. Esina indicated that she now hopes to focus on younger dancers, emphasising the importance of transmitting what the art form has given her.

The announcement concerns her departure at the end of the season; it does not specify a final performance date or a new teaching appointment.
