The new series of euro banknotes will feature soprano Maria Callas and composer Ludwig van Beethoven.
The European Central Bank has approved two design concepts for the new banknotes. One series, dedicated to culture, will depict prominent European figures from the arts and sciences on one side, while the other side will showcase scenes related to universities, museums, parks, and concerts. Other notable figures set to appear include artist and scientist Leonardo da Vinci, writer Miguel de Cervantes, and physicist Marie Skłodowska-Curie.
The new banknotes, ranging from €5 to €200, are expected to enter circulation several years after the final designs are approved in 2026.
