Burglary at Leipzig Opera

Thieves broke into Leipzig Opera, causing minor damage. Police have launched an investigation.

Do our thieves not realise that cultural institutions are already struggling financially? In the early hours of Sunday, burglars entered the opera house and raided the subscription office.

According to BILD, the intruders stole cash from various containers. A police spokesperson estimated the losses to be several thousand euros.

The opera house confirmed the incident. Speaking to BILD, spokesperson Gudula Kienemund stated: “We are currently assessing the theft and the resulting damage. Fortunately, ticket sales and performances remain unaffected.”
