China National Centre Orchestra to perform in Russia for the first time

The orchestra of the China National Centre for Performing Arts will perform in Russia for the first time. The orchestra has three concerts scheduled for October: in Moscow, St Petersburg and Vladivostok.

Residents and guests of the capital will be the first to hear the orchestra. On 1 October the Chinese musicians will play in the Zaryadye Hall, the concert will take place with the participation of Ivan Rudin. On 4 October the orchestra will take to the stage of the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, and on 7 October it will take to the stage of the Mariinsky branch in Vladivostok.

The programme for the evenings will include works by both Russian and contemporary Chinese composers. The symphony Ode to the Red Flag by Liu Qimin and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto will be performed. The ensemble will also perform Chen Qigang's Eternal Joy Trumpet Concerto and Alexander Scriabin's Poem of Ecstasy. The soloists will be Chinese pianist Luo Wei and Russian trumpeter Semyon Salomatnikov.
