Czech Philharmonic And Israel Philharmonic Both Cancel Season Opening Concerts

The Czech Philharmonic has announced that Semyon Bychkov has canceled the opening night concerts on Sept. 25 and 26, 2024, due to undergoing back surgery. He will require a four-week rest and is expected to return to the podium by the end of October. In his place, Swiss conductor Charles Dutoit will lead the opening night, known for his interpretations of French and Russian music from the 19th and 20th centuries.

The Israel Philharmonic has pushed back its season-opening concert to November 4, due to artist cancellations and other considerations. Maxim Vengerov can't make the date and will be replaced in the Mendelssohn concerto by Mark Bouchkov.
