Fatal Police Shooting Near Cincinnati Music Hall

Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge provided details on a fatal police shooting near Cincinnati Music Hall in Over-the-Rhine on Thursday. The incident began with a domestic-related stabbing on Parkcrest Lane in Westwood. The suspect, 48-year-old Juan Mack, fled the scene. Officers later found Mack, who was covered in blood, driving a blue Toyota Camry. He led them on a pursuit, which ended near Music Hall.

Mack exited his vehicle armed with a Ruger .40 caliber handgun and ignored repeated commands to drop the weapon. Despite officers using foam rounds, Mack threatened to "start popping" and raised his firearm at the officers, who then shot him. Mack received immediate aid but succumbed to his injuries. The victim of the stabbing is in critical condition.

No bystanders or officers were harmed. Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval confirmed that use-of-force investigations are underway. The Cincinnati Music Hall assured patrons of their safety and thanked the police for their quick response.
