Renowned Austrian violinist Werner Hink, born March 18, 1943, in Vienna, passed away on May 21, 2024, at the age of 81. Hink, a former concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic, began his illustrious career with the Vienna State Opera in 1964 before joining the Philharmonic in 1965. He served as concertmaster from 1974 until his retirement in 2008. Hink's influence extended beyond performance; he also taught at the Vienna Conservatory and the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan. His accolades include the Cross of Honour for Science and Art, first class, and the Grand Decoration of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria.
