Salzburg Festival Draws Positive Final Balance
The Salzburg Festival attracted over 250,000 visitors from 77 countries this year. Audiences enjoyed 172 performances across 15 venues, as announced by the organizers on Friday. The occupancy rate reached 98.2%, slightly down from the previous year's 98.5%. Ticket revenues totaled £26.14 million (up from £24.94 million in 2023).
The 104th edition of the festival featured 34 performances of five staged operas and four concert productions, alongside 85 concerts.
Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival: 95% Capacity
The Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (SHMF) sold around 180,000 tickets for its 203 concerts this summer. The occupancy rate hit 95%, as organizers reported on Friday, up from 94% in 2023. In the last pre-pandemic year (2019), the festival had an occupancy rate of 91%.
Rheingau Music Festival Expects 93% Capacity
With two days remaining in its 37th edition, the Rheingau Music Festival (RMF) is projected to reach a 93% occupancy rate. Over 130,000 tickets (including those for sponsors, press, and Christmas concerts) were distributed for 155 concerts, according to the organizers.
The festival's total budget amounted to £6.88 million, funded by sponsors, donations, membership fees, and a £21,500 grant from the state of Hesse.
Bayreuth Festival: All Performances Sold Out
After reaching 97% capacity last year, all opera performances at the 2024 Richard Wagner Festival in Bayreuth were sold out. The 30 performances attracted over 58,000 visitors, as reported at the festival’s conclusion. Alongside a new production of Tristan and Isolde, the program included artist-academic meetings.
Demand for discounted tickets for young people (up to age 25) exceeded supply, and the festival also participated in the federal government’s ‘Culture Pass’ program. Both initiatives are set to continue next year.
