French conductor Marie Jacquot will take on the role of Principal Conductor at the Royal Danish Theatre. Born in 1990 in Paris and raised in Chartres, Jacquot initially had a greater passion for tennis than for the piano, which her parents encouraged her to learn. Her talent in tennis led her to compete in the Junior French Open, but she was also drawn to playing the trombone. At the age of 15, she decided to fully commit to music.
After studying trombone in Paris, Jacquot pursued conducting studies in Vienna and Weimar. Since completing her studies in 2014, she has built a remarkable career. Since the 2023/2024 season, Jacquot has served as the Principal Guest Conductor for the Wiener Symphoniker. Starting in the 2026/2027 season, she will become the Principal Conductor of the WDR Sinfonieorchester in Cologne, Germany.
