Sexual harassment: Jean Tubéry given a six-month suspended prison sentence

Jean Tubéry, cornetist and director of the early music ensemble La Fenice, received a six-month suspended prison sentence for sexual harassment. The Sens Criminal Court found him guilty of "repeated comments of a sexual nature" following complaints from three individuals. One accuser reported Tubéry pinned her against a wall and tried to kiss her in 2007. Tubéry denied the allegations, calling them "slander" and "jealousy."

In 2022, Tubéry had been suspended for five months by the Lyon Conservatoire for not treating his students with dignity, but returned in October 2022, causing unrest among some teachers. The court did not ban him from teaching but sentenced him to three years of ineligibility, which could impact his position. He is also required to pay damages to the two complainants.
