US Vice President Vance Booed at Kennedy Center Concert

On March 13, at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., U.S. Vice President JD Vance was met with nearly a minute of boos and jeers after being spotted in a box before the concert began. According to The Washington Post, the audience’s frustration may have stemmed not only from political opposition but also from the lengthy security checks that delayed the performance by 30 minutes. Vance’s wife, Usha Vance, was recently appointed to the Kennedy Center’s board as part of a leadership overhaul under the Trump administration.

The evening’s concert featured the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of music director Gianandrea Noseda. Violinist Leonidas Kavakos performed Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 2, followed by the Largo from Bach’s Violin Sonata No. 3 as an encore. The program also included Stravinsky’s Petrushka, marking the start of the orchestra’s upcoming tour in Florida.
