2025 Operalia Competition to Be Held in Bulgaria

Operalia has announced that the 2025 edition of the competition will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria, with Rolex as the official sponsor.

The quarterfinals are scheduled for October 20-21 at the Bulgaria Concert Hall, followed by the semifinals on October 22 at the same venue. The final round will take place on October 26 at the Ivan Vazov National Theatre.

This year’s competition is organized in collaboration with SY11 Events, founded by former Operalia winner Sonya Yoncheva.

Established in 1993 by Plácido Domingo, Operalia has previously been held in Mumbai, Russia, Los Angeles, Prague, Cape Town, Riga, Verona, and London. Past winners include Kathleen O’Mara, Le Bu, Juliana Grigoryan, Anthony León, Adriana Gonzalez, Xabier Anduaga, Adela Zaharia, and Levy Sekgapane.
