Anna Netrebko’s concert cancelled at KKL Luzern Culture and Convention Centre

KKL Luzern Culture and Convention Centre announced on May 1st that the concert featuring Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov, scheduled by Good News Productions for June 1st, 2024, at the KKL Luzern Culture and Convention Centre, has been cancelled. The announcement cites the controversial public opinion surrounding the soloist and the potential threat to public order as reasons for the cancellation. Consequently, state and city authorities requested the center to cancel the concert.

According to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur, on May 4th, 2024, Anna Netrebko performed Puccini's Turandot at the International May Music Festival held at the Hesse National Theater in Wiesbaden. Approximately 400 demonstrators participated in a peaceful protest outside the theater.

Following her second and final performance of Turandot in Wiesbaden on May 8th, Anna Netrebko will return to La Scala for a new production of the show. Eight performances are already sold out.
