Anthony Hopkins will play Handel

Two-time Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins will play composer George Frederick Handel in The King of Covent Garden, which is set during the time when the famous opera composer composed his choral masterpiece Messiah. Embankment Films has launched global pre-sales for the project, which is scheduled to be released in late autumn 2025.

Global opera soprano star Katherine Jenkins will serve as executive producer, bringing her musical performance, knowledge and influence to the film's production and marketing.

Tim Haslam, co-founder of Embankment, said: “Hopkins and Handel are both masters of their fields, and together they will create a joyful and exciting film event for us.”
