Dominique Meyer, one of Europe’s most respected cultural administrators, has been appointed President of the Teatro Sociale di Como – AsLiCo in Italy.

Dominique Meyer, one of Europe’s most respected cultural administrators, has been appointed President of the Teatro Sociale di Como – AsLiCo in Italy. The announcement was made official by the theatre’s board on 5 May 2025.
Meyer, 69, has held leadership roles at some of the continent’s most prestigious institutions, including the Vienna State Opera, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and the Opéra National de Paris. He currently serves as Executive Director of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne.
His connection with Teatro Sociale di Como spans over three decades. Meyer has served on the jury of the AsLiCo International Competition for Young Opera Singers for 30 years and has chaired the jury for the past 11 years.
Upon accepting the position, Meyer expressed his gratitude:
“I am very pleased and honoured to be elected President of Teatro Sociale di Como. I thank the board for their trust and look forward to working closely with Barbara Minghetti, Giovanni Vegeto, and the entire team. I fully share the theatre’s mission of supporting young artists, promoting cultural inclusion, and engaging with children and new audiences. Through this role, I hope to give back a part of what I have received during my 35-year career.”
