Fedor Beznosikov Appointed Chief Conductor of Moscow’s Novaya Opera

The Novaya Opera Theatre in Moscow has announced the appointment of Fedor Beznosikov as its next Chief Conductor. He will assume the role of Music Director starting from the 2025/2026 season and officially take over as Chief Conductor in the 2026/2027 season. During the upcoming season, Beznosikov will work closely with the theatre’s artistic and administrative teams to shape its future artistic vision.

Born in Moscow in 1993, Beznosikov began his musical education at the Moscow Central Music School before entering the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where he studied violin and chamber music under Alexander Vinnitsky and Andrey Shishlov. He is currently pursuing a degree in opera and symphonic conducting at the same institution under the guidance of Felix Korobov. He has also participated in masterclasses with leading conductors including Vladimir Jurowski and Teodor Currentzis.

Beznosikov made his debut with Novaya Opera in 2023 during the Epiphany Festival, conducting a chamber version of Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7 and Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s Stille und Umkehr. In 2024, he returned to lead the Russian premiere of Franz Schmidt’s rarely performed oratorio The Book with Seven Seals, followed by performances of Verdi’s Requiem in both 2024 and 2025. In October 2023, he also conducted Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman, a joint production with the Perm Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Praised for his structural insight, refined musical sensibility, and command of orchestral and choral forces, Beznosikov is regarded as one of the most promising conductors of his generation in Russia. His artistic interests lie particularly in uncovering lesser-known repertoire and championing contemporary works—values that align closely with Novaya Opera’s mission.
