Milan has renamed a space near Teatro alla Scala, between Via Tommaso Grossi and Via Santa Margherita, as Largo Claudio Abbado, in honor of the conductor who served as La Scala's music director for 18 years and led many international theaters and orchestras. The naming ceremony, attended by Mayor Giuseppe Sala, Councillor for Culture Tommaso Sacchi, La Scala Superintendent Dominique Meyer, Music Director Riccardo Chailly, and Claudio Abbado’s son Daniele, emphasized Abbado's significant cultural contributions and his belief in culture as essential as water.

In Heimbach, the Eifel region, the town is commemorating pianist and conductor Lars Vogt, who passed away in 2022, by renaming the power station bridge to Lars Vogt Bridge. An information board will also be installed at the site.
