Scala: Philharmonic Concert Cancelled Due to Bad Weather

The traditional concert by the Filarmonica della Scala in Piazza Duomo has been cancelled due to bad weather. A cloudburst shortly before the start flooded the stage, leaving no option but to cancel the performance, which was to be conducted by Riccardo Chailly with Emmanuel Tjeknavorian.

"With regret, we announce that the conditions do not allow us to go ahead," Chailly announced over the microphone.

"The stage conditions do not permit it. These are precious non-electronic instruments," it was explained, noting that "this is the first time this has happened in twelve editions."
