Canadian Violinist Angèle Dubeau Steps Back From Performing

Canadian violinist Angèle Dubeau, 62, has announced her retirement from performing due to a chronic nerve condition affecting her right index finger, leading to permanent numbness. With a career spanning over 45 years, she has released 48 albums, sold over 650,000 copies, and garnered 195 million streams.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Dubeau reflected on her deep connection to music, stating, “I will have to learn to flourish without my violin.” A graduate of the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal and The Juilliard School, she founded the Fête de la Musique de Tremblant festival and the all-female string ensemble La Pietà.

Dubeau expressed hope that her music will continue to resonate through her albums and shared her commitment to future creative projects. The Orchestre symphonique de Montréal praised her contributions to classical music, wishing her well in her future endeavors.
