Les Misérables Cast Members Plan Boycott Over Trump’s Kennedy Center Appearance

Several cast members from the touring production of Les Misérables are planning to boycott an upcoming performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., in protest of U.S. President Donald Trump’s attendance.

Scheduled for June 11, 2025, the performance is part of the show’s national tour. However, according to reports, around ten cast and chorus members—including leading roles—intend to sit out that evening’s show due to Trump’s recent political appointments and influence over the Kennedy Center.

Since being named chairman of the Kennedy Center’s board in February 2025, Trump has appointed close ally Richard Grenell as executive director and removed several existing board members. He has also expressed intentions to cancel programming he deems “anti-American,” including drag performances and so-called “woke” content.
